Shangri-La Botanical Gardens are AWESOME. It is inexpensive (adults $6 , kids $4 for the gardens and only adults $10 and kids $6 for the gardens plus the boat outpost tour). There is plenty to do for the better part of a day. In the front area (where you walk in) there is a short movie about the history of the park, it was very enlightening.
