Hi, J is the type of rim & 8.5 & 9 are the rim width in inches, so 9J is 1/2 an inch wider than 8.5J Hoggy. **Too many lookers & not enough doers.**. These are readily available in the required load rating for a T32 and work much better on the 8.5" rim.

As far as "right" an 8.5" wide rim can support up to a 255 wide tire. I run 255/35/18 on 18x8.5 wheels just fine. But that's only possible because I have an offset that will allow me to run that wide of a tire on my car too. I run on +42mm offset. If your wheels are 35mm offset then 245 is likely too wide and a 255 will be worse yet.

#1 I'm going to be running 19 x 8.5J wheels, offset close to OEM, 48-ish. I've seen on various other forums that 225 35's are popular as they give a nice stretch, however I've also seen 235's on here in the Aggressive wheel thread going.
